#79 "Cutting a Promo" -- The Grizzly Bear Egg Cafe with Clayton Morris and Mike Quackenbush

In this week's episode Clayton and Mike empty the Grizzly Bear Egg Cafe Mail Bag.  It was filled to brim with insightful commentary and the guys remain convinced that the mail was intercepted and originally intended for the folks at PBS.  Mike finally finishes a tale he started many moons ago, how exactly he managed to outwit two goons at a restaurant.  Clayton enjoys a Coke Zero and smile.  All that and space aliens in this episode of The Grizz.

The problem I had with Whedon's Astonishing X-Men is that if you see Buffy and Angel first, you get the impression that with Astonishing X-Men, Whedon was simply forcing the themes and even characters from those shows into the X-Men. I can see how the dialogue and whatnot would seem fresh and interesting if you'd never watched Buffy, but if you come into it having seen his previous work, it feels more stale than it would otherwise. I agree that its biggest selling point was its own continuity, however.

Hey there, guys--thanks so much for mentioning the Daredevil e-mail--From what I can tell, any DD movie is more likely to be a Marvel Do-Over deal rather than a sequel. In a world where Reboots abound, the "Good News" is that any Ben "Root of Movie Evil" Affleck affiliation will at least be expunged. I ended up steering well clear of the 2003 adaptation.

I'd always hoped a Daredevil movie might be a more "gritty" 80's-style Urban Vigilante picture than a shiny blockbuster (in the Frank Miller mold, maybe?). Of course, with David Scarpa on the case, we may well escape Affleck territory only to get Keanu Reeves as Matt "Matrix Reloaded" Murdock! At least Joel Schumacher hasn't been hired to slap nipples on the DD uniform just yet.

Thanks for another great show, guys!
