First of all, I love the podcast. It makes my Tuesdays. Second of all, I loved hearing you guys finally talk about the difference between most of your typical network TV shows and the shows you see on either cable or HBO/Showtime. The Sopranos, Dexter, Deadwood are ALL favorites of mine. I've seen every episode and own the DVDs. Magnificent television. You guys were spot on about the way you described the character development. Mike, I also tried starting The Wire and didn't make it past the first 2 or 3 episodes, but I'm determined to try again. I've heard too much good about it to just quit.
I'm also a HUGE Timothy Olyphant fan, mainly because of his work on Deadwood. I was skeptical about Justified because I wrote it off as a modern-day Deadwood. Well, hearing Clayton say good things about it convinced me to give it a shot. I'll let you know what I think.
I was a huge fan of Michelle Pfeiffer as Selina Kyle in Batman Returns. I'm curious to see if Nolan follows that Catwoman storyline at all. What did you guys think of the two Tim Burton Batman films? I loved them both. A LOT. Either way, my expectations are very high for Anne. I have faith, though, after seeing Nolan's transformation of Ledger into the Joker.
Finally, I hope all of these superhero movies aren't being rushed. It seems like Thor is going to be out awfully quick, followed by Captain America, and then The Avengers in about a year's time. Iron Man set the bar. RDJ played Stark to perfection. But if someone can pull all these heroes together into The Avengers, it's Joss Whedon. His Buffy series remains as one of the best series ever.
Keep up the great work guys.
When will we be able to hear the podcast on Zune?
When you guys were talking about getting your backs thrown out, Mike said that he was wrestling in a 'cold, lonely town named Barnesville.' Was this Barnesville in eastern Ohio? If so, thats about 10minutes from my hometown!!
Love the show guys, keep up the good work.
What up, Q-Bush and ClayMo?
After Dark Knight was released I was talking over the possibilities for the next film with my ex. Being a redhead, she wanted to see Poison Ivy, as some sort of eco-terrorist. I said it wouldn't make sense with the storyline. I said that Bane is a logical choice, as Batman is on the run. Bane is the only villain he's ever had (that wouldn't look stupid on celluloid) who has bested Batman physically. I can see his character utilized as a mercenary brought in to apprehend Batman or as a Kraven the Hunter-type villain.
Clayton, toward the end of the episode you spoke of how some of the kids in that study were less interested in playing when they were paid. You should check out Dan Pink's book "Drive". Money, as an extrinsic motivator has that effect! Who knew?! And why do businesses still use it as a motivator? It's a great book, you should check it out. Search TED for Dan Pink and you'll find a little thing he did that's a great primer to the book as well.
Also, who doesn't love a little JJ&FP? I think I have every album (CD) except Rock the House and they're all still in my playlist.
