Clayton its' not worth the pain. Give up the quest to make her suffer. All the geeky shows will not suffice the pain for you to watch Friends.. ( I like Friends but its not a guy thing). But if you must choose then Babylon 5 would be a good choice or Farscape but it only ran 3 or 4 years.

- Sopranos is a pretty good choice. Most women I know hated it, especially the later seasons.

- 80's toy cartoons like Transformers, GI Joe, and He-Man could work despite the smaller number of episodes, since Natali doesn't have the nostalgia factor to ease the pain of watching the bad episodes.

- How about Married... with Children? That went 11 seasons.

- I was once on my way to a concert in Philly with some friends and we were discussing which Sex and the City woman was our favorite. When I said "Cynthia Nixon", they considered skipping the concert and dropping me at the hospital.

When Clayton played that awful remix of 'I Beg Your Pardon', there was about a second of the original song at the end, but it was enough for me to go "Oh yeah, I totally remember that song now." I can't remember the last time I heard it, though.

The problem with trying to make Natali suffer is that she's actually pretty cool, but here's my suggestion: The complete run of Friends is 234 episodes, and some are extended version on the DVDs. If you take the DC Animated TV shows, from the start of Batman: The Animated Series through the end of Justice League Unlimited, that's 254 episodes, some of which will be shorter than Friends. So it's about even.

And thinking about how long it would take to watch all those cartoons makes me really feel for you, since you'll have to spend almost as much time watching Friends.

Be fair to your wife. Friends is a half hour show (22 min). Pick a show for her that is 30 minutes.

Also as much as I love Seinfeld, Seinfeld had as much to do with bringing about Friends as Cheers or Taxi did (very little). All the shows basically took place in one place, shot using three camera format, had a live audience and the characters sat around talking, but they were all very different shows.

I think tricking her into watching a ten season show of hour long episodes was another layer of torment devised by Clayton to make up for all the Friends pain.

I recently had this same issue with my partner, I made him watch my all time favorite show, MASH. Eleven seasons of Alan Alda greatness. I loved that show growing up, and every few years I re-watch them from beginning to end.
