So you just got a big client to sign on the dotted line for your company. You also just finished fixing the leaky pipes in our aunt’s house. And you just led your community’s little league team all the way to the championship trophy. Impressive, man! Hats off to you!
For sure, you feel pretty good about yourself every time you get something done, especially for other people. But do you remember to reward yourself for every job done well? Well, if you’re scratching your head right now because you have no idea how to reward yourself, then you’ve come to the right place. We’ve got you covered. Check out three ways you can reward yourself.
Have a me-day
Because you often put the needs of other people before yours, you should reward yourself with a day that’s all about you from time to time. Call this your ‘me-day.’ And on this special day, you can do whatever you want or do nothing at all! What’s important is that you’re able to have fun, relax, and recharge on your ‘me-day.’ But do try to spend the day on your own. Why? Because you’ll surely be tempted to think about the needs of other people if you spend your ‘me-day’ with them!
So how do you spend this special day? For starters, you can sleep in and not worry about anything like getting in some exercise at sunrise. Then eat whatever you want! If you’re craving pizza for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, then go ahead and order pizza delivery to get your fix. In between filling your stomach, you can play Doom Eternal, The Outer Worlds, or Darksiders Genesis. Maybe you’re more of an artist, so try to relax by creating a new masterpiece. Or you can just get more shut-eye to allow your body to recharge!
Let yourself splurge
Obviously, you spend money on your needs. But this time, as a reward to yourself, spend your hard-earned money not on what you need but on what you want. Surely, you’ve seen how excited your mom, aunt, sister, or significant other gets when they go shopping. Well, you can’t blame them because shopping or retail therapy has great health benefits like relieving stress and boosting one’s mood. So do what the ladies do and go on a shopping splurge once in a while.
Keep in mind, though, that while you’ll be splurging on something you want, the item should still be a good investment for you. Don’t go buying things that you’ll only be using once or twice. For example, if you’re a hardcore gamer, investing in a $2,000+ gaming PC, such as the Corsair Vengeance i7200 and MSI MEG Trident X, seems like a good idea because you’ll surely be using the desktop frequently and for a long time. A nice sports watch like a Garmin Fenix 6 Sapphire seems like a good buy as well. You can wear the watch to work every day and use it to track your heart rate and oxygen saturation when you work out.
Go on an adventure
Remember what it felt like to go on a ride on the roller coaster at the local fair when you were a kid? It was exhilarating each time, wasn’t it? Well, this feeling is the reason you should go on an adventure every now and then to reward yourself. But what kind of adventure? Depending on your sense of adventure, you can do exciting activities that’ll get your adrenaline rushing or just do fun stuff that’ll let you experience the world around you.
If you’ve got a strong sense of adventure, then good for you. There are many heart-stopping activities you can do. You can, for instance, go to Macau and take the 764-foot bungee jump from the Macau Tower. For water adventures, head to Chile and go white-water rafting on the Class V rapids of the Futaleufú River. Don’t worry if you’re not much of a daredevil. Many fun adventures still await you. Simply going on a road trip with your friends, for example, will already make for a good adventure. Or you can travel halfway around the world to a place, say Bhutan or Mali, and immerse yourself in its rich culture.
Remember to Reward Yourself
Of course, it always feels good to accomplish things, especially if they help other people, so don’t stop getting things done. But you should also remember to reward yourself time and again for the things you’re able to accomplish. Reward yourself by having a ‘me-day,’ letting yourself splurge, or going on an adventure. You deserve it, man!
